Alliancehealth Woodward Has Broad Impact on Northwest Oklahoma
4/4/2022
Woodward, OK April 4, 2022 – Over the course of a year, the impact of AllianceHealth Woodward adds up as the skilled and compassionate hands of physicians, nurses and other team members deliver safe, quality care around the clock every day. Beyond clinical care, the AllianceHealth Woodward is a major employer and regularly invests resources to expand and enhance the services available locally. The overall community benefit each year is significant and totaled more than $30.4 million in 2021.
Last year, the hospital and clinics delivered care at more than 90,000 patient visits as the pandemic heightened the need for medical care. The hospital has supported more than 290 COVID inpatients since March 2020 while sustaining all of its other medical services. More than 1,100 outpatients were treated with monoclonal antibodies, helping them avoid serious symptoms and hospitalization.
“We provided quality care for patients with COVID and also for other members of our community who had a broad range of medical needs,” said Chris Wolf, chief executive officer for AllianceHealth Woodward. “Our community is truly fortunate to have this resilient and committed team of clinicians and caregivers here in northwest Oklahoma who make a difference for so many patients each day. We helped people get well and live healthier, and that was evident in so many ways - patients left with a renewed outlook on life after a COVID illness, less pain following a joint replacement, or a smile of relief when their screening mammogram or colonoscopy was clear.”
Employees and medical staff brought their skills and compassion to support more than 9,200 emergency department visits, more than 1,100 inpatient stays and performed more than 1,600 surgeries. There were over 78,000 outpatient visits at our primary care and specialists clinics, 24 hour lab, radiology center, sleep study center, outpatient rehab and wound care centers. We also delivered joy to local families as more than 200 babies took their first breaths in our birthing unit.
AllianceHealth Woodward continues to grow and evolve as resources are directed toward increased medical services, facilities and technologies that are important to patients. The hospital made capital improvements totaling more than $677 thousand. These include new surgery towers in our surgery department and new defibrillators hospital-wide. Access will soon be enhanced with the opening of AllianceHealth Medical Group-Family Medicine clinic on Oklahoma Avenue.
As AllianceHealth Woodward works to continuously meet patients’ needs, it also gives back to the broader northwest Oklahoma region. AllianceHealth Woodward provided over $5.5 million in charity and uncompensated care for the community’s most vulnerable. And the over $1 million paid in property, sales and GRT taxes helped support civic resources and services.
The hospital’s payroll of more than $18.2 million ripples across the local economy as employees buy goods and services
AllianceHealth Woodward also works with donates to charitable and community organizations through their “Wear Jeans to Work on Friday” employee donation program. AllianceHealth Woodward Clinics also provides free athletic program physicals for Woodward High School and Middle School student athletes.
Wolf continued, “We are part of this community and we are committed to doing all we can to provide excellent healthcare services and to making northwest Oklahoma a healthier, better community for all.”
