Woodward, Okla., April 3rd, 2023 – The skilled and compassionate hands of physicians, nurses and other team members of AllianceHealth Woodward support the health and well-being of patients who turn to the facility for expert care. Beyond providing clinical care, the hospital is a cornerstone of the community and a major contributor to the economic health of the tri-state area as a major employer and tax-payer and through resources to expand and enhance the medical services available close to home. The overall impact is significant and totaled more than $32.6 million in 2022.
Care was provided at more than 94,000 patient encounters, including more than 9,000 emergency department visits, more than 900 inpatient admissions and more than 1,700 surgeries. Over 83,000 patients received care across the outpatient AllianceHealth Woodward hospital departments, AllianceHealth Medical Group physician clinics, and the outpatient therapy clinic. Joy was delivered to local families with the birth of more than 200 babies.
“We help people get well and live healthier by providing quality care for patients,” said Landon Hise, chief executive officer for AllianceHealth Woodward. “Our region is truly fortunate to have this dedicated team of clinicians and caregivers here in Woodward, who are making a real difference each and every day.”
AllianceHealth Woodward regularly applies its resources to medical services, facilities and technologies. Capital improvements totaling more than $900,000 were made last year, including new chillers to cool the building, a new hospital-wide phone system, 12 new defibrillators, and other medical equipment.
Access to primary care has been enhanced through provider recruitment and the opening of a new walk-in clinic – AllianceHealth Medical Group, Family Medicine-Oklahoma Avenue with two new providers, Brandi Fisher, APRN, FNP-C, and Chelsey Tapia, APRN-CNP, and a new internal medicine practice for Gabriel DeCarvalho, M.D., at AllianceHealth Woodward Clinics-Primary Care.
AllianceHealth Woodward also gives back to the broader tri-state region by providing over $6.6 million in charity and uncompensated care for the community’s most vulnerable. And the payment of $1.4 million in property, sales and GRT taxes helps support civic resources and services.
AllianceHealth Woodward also works with and donates to charitable and community organizations through its “Wear Jeans to Work on Friday” employee donation program. AllianceHealth Woodward Clinics also provide free athletic program physicals for Woodward High School and Middle School student athletes.
The hospital’s payroll of more than $17.5 million ripples across the local economy as employees buy goods and services. Last year the hospital added enhanced benefits to help team members achieve their personal and professional goals, including assistance with student loan repayments, reimbursement of licensure and certification expenses, as well as tuition reimbursement.
Hise continued, “The vital care we provide is only one part of the broad impact we have. We are a cornerstone of this community and we are committed to doing all we can to provide excellent healthcare services and to making Woodward and the Tri-State area a healthier, better community for all.”
